We all know you made that New Year’s Resolution to lose a few extra pounds. And now its Spring Time and you’ve come to fitness training programs here at Varsity Sports in Santa Paula, ran a few extra miles, and you may even do some sit-ups before bed. Although this is helping you lose a couple pounds it is just not enough. This is because you can never out-exercise a bad diet.
To get back on track with your goal of losing those extra pounds that are slowing you down try adding a few things to your new healthy lifestyle.
How To Lose Weight
Remember that calories do count within your diet but you do not need to count them.
• Choose a Low-Carb Diet: Start by staying away from sugar and starch, this includes bread. The main advantage of a low carb diet is that it causes you to want to eat less. A 2012 study proved that a low carb diet allows one to burn 300 calories a day while resting, this equals one hour of calories burned while exercising.
• Eat When Hungry: The most common mistake when starting a low carb diet is reducing your carb intake and still backing away from fats. Your body needs at least one of these for an energy resource. Avoiding both carbs and fats results in hunger, cravings, and fatigue. Try eating more natural fat until you feel satisfied: butter, olive oil, meat, fatty fish, coconut oil, eggs.
• Be Persistent: During the first week of a low carb diet you may lose 2-6 pounds, but after this you start losing only about 1 pound a week. This results in one losing 50 pounds a year. Every 5 pounds of weight lose usually equals one inch taken off the waist. You may lose weight quicker if you are on a very strict low carb diet, or exercising while on the diet.
Try taking these things out of your lifestyle:
• Stress less, sleep more
• Less dairy products with high fat like sour cream
